This is your classic “cabin in the woods” offering a huge parcel of land backed by miles of Forest Service land and adjacent to common area on one side. The cabin is rustic, simple and cozy. It has 2 bedrooms with wood vaulted ceilings and newer laminate “wood look” flooring and a simple bathroom with stall shower and single sink. The living room has a high vaulted wood ceiling, rock fireplace and door to a deck. There is a small kitchen with a classic refrigerator, old style electric range, sink and mostly open shelf cabinets for pots and pans and includes a free-standing wood burning stove. The driveway is slightly upsloping but levels out nicely to accommodate parking for at least a couple of cars. The land is beautiful, and the setting is private. Under the home is a large, walk in storage area. This cabin cannot be considered a primary full-time residence. Shay Creek cabins are meant for part time usage and cannot be rented out. The water is available from approximately May 1 through October 1, depending on weather. Shay Creek Road is not plowed during the winter, but many cabin owners snowshoe in from Hot Springs Road, which is only a short walk. In mild winters, it is sometimes possible to drive in. Walking distance to Grover Hot Springs, a beautiful waterfall, fishing in Markleeville Creek and hiking trails. Only a short drive to downtown Markleeville for wonderful restaurant options and a general store. Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley, NV are an easy and short drive away from this location, as well as world class ski resorts, mountain lakes, rivers and everything that an outdoor enthusiast could want.
