Located in a “summer home” neighborhood, the community water system runs from late April or early May through October or November, depending on the weather. While you can enjoy the cabin year-round, it can’t be used as a full-time primary residence. In the off-season, you’ll need to bring your own water, and there’s no snow removal on Shay Creek Road in winter—but from the main road, it’s just a short snowshoe in. Only a quick walk to great fishing, scenic hiking trails, a waterfall, and Grover’s Hot Springs. Quaint downtown Markleeville is just a few miles away, offering restaurants and a general store, with Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley, and endless outdoor recreation nearby.
